"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is set to air its final episode in March 2017 and as early as now, fans are trying to figure out how the series will end. As such, fans have been decoding tweets and other clues, which strongly suggest that Kai may return in the season finale.
Chris Woods Makes Cryptic Messages
Fans were quick to make speculations about "The Vampire Diaries" season 8's finale episode after Paul Wesley posted a picture on Instagram. On December 9, he posted a picture of him together with his girlfriend Phoebe Tonkin and Chris Wood.
What captured the attention of the fans wasn't the picture entirely but rather the caption that goes with it. Fans believe that Wood took a break from "Supergirl" and may return as Kai in the final episode of "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.
Aside from the controversial Instagram post, Wood also posted some cryptic posts on Twitter. In turn, one of the fans questioned the status of Kai. Wood responded in a way that made fans believe he's back in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. Wood said he was trying to get out from hell.
While Wood played a villain-like role in "The Vampire Dairies," his story arc made the vampire fantasy series a lot more interesting. While he was seen dead in season 6, this doesn't mean the end for the character -- and a possible return in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.
Series creator Julie Plec is known for her interesting ways in bringing back any character to life. Saying this, there's a lot of chance that Kai could return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.
Chris Wood Takes A Break From 'Supergirl'
Aside from the cryptic messages from Wood, the former "The Vampire Diaries" actor also revealed that there has been a change in his shooting schedule. An online publication reported that the Wood takes the fully-packed schedule as a good sign.
Many fans believe that he was talking about his "Supergirl" schedule. If speculations are true, then "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 additional workload will keep him fully occupied.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 airs every Friday at 8 p.m. The series will cap off on March 10, 2017, on The CW.
