Shaq-Fu Sequel, and the Apocalypse by Proxy, On the Way [VIDEO]

Shaquille O' Neil Says Shaq-Fu 2 "Coming Soon"

The concept of a 7'1" spin kicking you in the face is no doubt an intimidating concept, but in this case, it's for all the wrong reasons. The mid-90's was a weird time for sports and pop culture. You had Michael Jordan throwing elemental basketballs in Chaos in the Windy City, Bill Clinton flip slam dunking in NBA Jam, but Shaquille O' Neil took things to a new low when he caught the acting bug, but the icing on the cake was Shaq Fu, a horrendous 2D fighter with gameplay almost as bad as the story. And another one's on the way.

While everyone else was talking about PlayStation Now and Michael Bay's breakdown, GamerFitNation was on the floor of the recent CES, and managed to spot the former NBA superstar. Not hard to do, the guy's over seven feet tall. What was impressive was they were able to get a mic all the way up to Shaq, and jokingly asked about a Shaq Fu sequel. Surprisingly, Shaq revealed that Shaq Fu 2 is "coming soon," presumably as Shaq Fu Two: Electric Boogaloo.

The guys at GamerFit were kind enough to post the video interview on YouTube. As you'll see, the big man was pretty playful in his response, so it could jost be a bit of Shaq shenanigans. Watch the video below and decide for yourself.

Despite the cult status the game now enjoys, there'd be no commercially acceptable reason for a sequel. The game is sought after by collectors as a gimmick, and one website is actually dedicated to destroying every last copy it can get its hands on, to, "prevent other generations from feeling the corruption of this game and its evil." The only potential reason to make another game would be as some kind of a digital release gag -anyone who downloads it gets the director's cut of "Kazaam."
