It looks like Showtime series "Shameless" Season 7 isn't going to get canceled after all, despite rumors that the show will get axed because of Emmy Rossum. Earlier, the show's lead actress had demanded equal, if not greater, pay-per-episode as that of William H. Macy, as she had lower pay despite similar workloads and directing some episodes. But contrary to rumors that the negotiation did not sit well with Showtime, Rossum and the producers of "Shameless" had agreed to the terms, clearing the way for a "Shameless" Season 8.
What went down before
Rossum, who plays Fiona Gallagher in "Shameless" Season 7, had been seeking equal compensation with that of her TV dad, William H. Macy, according to TV Guide. For his part, the lead actor was very supportive of her cause and said she deserved the raise. The terms of their deal were not disclosed and renewal for a "Shameless" Season 8 is not yet officially announced. Rossum however said they will begin shooting in May 2017. "Shameless" Season 7 finale will air on Sunday, Dec. 18 on Showtime.
What to expect from 'Shameless' Season 7 finale
Meanwhile, "Shameless" Season 7 penultimate episode revealed the exit of beloved character Mickey (Noel Fisher). This could mark the end for fan-favorite couple Mickey and Ian (Cameron Monaghan). Ian initially wanted to follow the escaped convict Mickey to Mexico, but ultimately decided to back out from leaving his family and Trevor (Elliot Fletcher), according to The Hollywood Reporter. It's likely that "Shameless" Season 8 will kick off from this state of affairs.
A report from TVGuide also stated that as long as Mickey is alive, there's still a chance that they may get back together. Either the season finale or "Shameless" Season 8 could explore that possibility. Stay tuned for more details and updates on "Shameless" Season 8 and 7.
