The “Arrow” Season 5 fall finale was made more exciting with an unexpected death and a major plot twist. It also presented the possibility of a fan favorite character’s return when airing resumes next year.
It wasn’t Prometheus
Titled “What We Leave Behind”, the "Arrow" Season 5 fall finale featured Oliver (Stephen Arnell) become more determined more than ever to track down Prometheus after he discovered clues that were tied to his past as The Hood. But, he quickly realized that he was tricked into thinking that he finally found and killed Prometheus because inside the Prometheus mask and costume was a gagged Det. Billy Malone (Tyler Ritter), Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) new boyfriend.
Laurel is back
Also in the “Arrow” Season 5 episode, Oliver came face to face with a seemingly alive Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) who greets him when he comes back to the lair. Arnell teased fans during a Facebook Live chat that Laurel might be having more appearances after the surprise one she had in episode 9. However, the actor admitted that people just don’t come back from the dead which is why he said that a sort of vetting process will happen to determine if it is really her. Arnell said everything will be clear when the show returns after the holidays.
Arnell went on further to say that he was legitimately freaked out by the script for episode 10 of “Arrow” Season 5. He added that he considers the plot for the next few episodes as a very cool development because it raises the stakes for Mr. Prometheus.
Dead and staying that way
As for Laurel’s appearance in future “Arrow” Season 5 episodes, everything about it is being kept under wraps but sources say that Cassidy is contracted to be on the show until 2017. It could be remembered that the fan favorite Laurel was killed by Damien Dahrk in the episode titled “Eleven-Fifty-None”. People from the show said that the character was really dead at that time and they won’t be doing the usual trick of bringing back the character soon after. “Arrow” Season 5 returns on January 25 on The CW.
