With just a month before the premiere of "Gold", Matthew McConaughey appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres show. He shared how he had prepared for his role.
McConaughey plays the character of Kenny Wells in the upcoming 2017 film "Gold". Kenny is an unlucky businessman who joins a geologist to find gold deep within the jungles of Indonesia.
The "Gold" actor McConaughey sat down with Ellen DeGeneres on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday. In there, he revealed his diet which almost everyone dreams of.
In the movie, "Gold", he gained 40 pounds. Not to mention, he became almost unrecognizable.
Pizza, Burgers and Beers for his "Gold" diet. He indulged in those for eight months whenever he wants, Entertainment Weekly reports.
On top of that, he is required to do so. That is a lot of dedication for his upcoming movie, "Gold", right?
McConaughey shared a chubby and balding photo of him filming "Gold" to the audience. Seeing the picture made the crown gasp as the actor looks a lot different now.
As his "Gold" character's photo was revealed, he quipped, "That's a whole lot of McConaughey." He also shared that he had fun gaining weight - because, of course, who would not love unlimited pizza?
Gaining pounds for his movie, "Gold", made him popular to his family, as per People Magazine. They even made a nickname for him, "Captain Fun".
DeGeneres then asked him if he felt different after doing his "Gold" movie diet. Fortunately, he did not. He said he did not feel any fatigue.
Even so, the "Gold" actor also dished the difficulty he felt when losing weight. He said it took him six months lose all those cheeseburgers and pizza.
He added that his wife misses his extra pounds after that. His kids do as well.
Moreover, fans will be able to see more of the 217 pound McConaughey soon. "Gold" is slated to premiere late January next year.
