In the winter finale of “Madam Secretary” Season 3, White House Chief of Staff Russel Jackson (Želiko Ivanek) will have a heart attack that will put his life in danger. He will be with Elizabeth McCord’s (Téa Leoni) daughter Stevie (Wallis Currie-Wood) when it happens.
Russel Jackson has a heart attack
In the trailer for the “Madam Secretary” Season 3 episode titled “The Race”, Russel and Stevie were talking in her visit to get the letter of recommendation for her law school application. Russel suddenly feels pain in his chest before completely passing out on the floor. Stevie administers first aid in order to save him but he won’t be responding. Elizabeth is then seen in the trailer trying to calm Stevie down before the paramedics arrive to take Russel to the hospital.
Elizabeth steps in
This will not be the only crisis that Elizabeth will be dealing with in the next episode of “Madam Secretary” Season 3. She has also to deal with the effect to the U.S. presidential election of the possible Israel-Iran war. As the U.S. Secretary of State, she will have to step in the middle of the two warring countries and initiate a peace talk.
In the past “Madam Secretary” Season 3 episodes, Iran raised its concern over the possible victory of Governor Sam Evans (J.C. MacKenzie) in the presidential election. He will be calling off all the treaties the U.S. government has entered into with Iran should that happen. This will have a big impact on the Middle Eastern country especially after an unexpected attack from Israel.
Mideast and domestic problems
Elizabeth will have to bring the two reluctant countries to the negotiation table in an attempt of brokering peace between them. Whether Elizabeth will be able to come up with a viable solution to the opposing countries while at the same time taking care of domestic problems in the White House remains to be seen in the winter finale of “Madam President” Season 3. It is slated to air on December 18, Sunday, on CBS.
