The trailer for "Fast and Furious 8" has finally been released. Critics are all over the teaser and recent reports suggest that Dom Toretto's villainy may largely affect the entire franchise. The movies have all tackled trust and loyalty but the person who started it all has turned away from the franchise's core foundation.
Fans Confused With Dom's Villainy
The latest reports surrounding "Fast and Furious 8" are wrapped on the questions of fans as to why Dom, played by Vin Diesel, has been chosen to be the villain of the upcoming installment. Not too many details have been dropped by the trailer but it appears that he has been drugged into doing the impossible by Charlize Theron's Cipher.
Spoilers for "Fast and Furious 8" suggest that Dom will betray his family, that is, the people he brought together from the beginning. Some fans aren't so happy about Dom's decision of betrayal at this time. Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner has just left the gang and Dom suddenly turns the tables.
Will the Good-to-Evil Switch Work Successfully on the Mighty Dom?
While the franchise's storylines of switching from good to evil and vice versa have worked successfully on the other characters, some critics doubt if Dom will be able to pull it off. "Fast and Furious 8," which is now called "The Fate of the Furious," may be the biggest turnaround in the entire franchise. This is largely due to the plan of allowing the gang's leader to fall.
Fans Disappointed Over Dom's Betrayal
There is also speculation that the huge change in "Fast and Furious 8" that will be spearheaded by Dom will affect the franchise in a negative way. Fans have always looked up to the great and mighty Dom. It would be a disappointment to see him on the dark side in "Fast and Furious 8."
On the other hand, other commentators agree that it's just about time Dom pulled the trigger on himself. He has always tried to pull the team together. In "Fast and Furious 8," the challenge may be to get the family to do the same for him - get him back home.
"Fast and Furious 8" or "The Fate of the Furious," is slated to crash into the big screens on April 14, 2017. Stay tuned for more updates on the massive franchise.
