Season 4 of the hit comedy series "Broad City" is set to debut in August 2017. The show's stars and creators, Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson posted a video message via their show's official Twitter page containing details on the upcoming season.
Release Date: Later Than Usual?
"Broad City's" loyal fan base view the upcoming season's release date as a longer wait than usual. The show's past three seasons each debuted in the first quarter of the year. The pair announced that they are currently filming the fourth season, as opposed to the summer setting that fans are accustomed to. In the video released in their official Twitter account, Glazer and Jacobson hilariously promised they will be coming in "hard and raw" in the summer of 2017.
Renewed For A Fifth Season
Fans were also delighted to hear that Comedy Central have signed the show for a fifth season as well. The hit comedy had captured the hearts of the people with its quirky storylines and free-spirited characters. The show unapologetically tackles current issues in society with humor and relatable discussions.
The New York based series started out as a web series independently produced between 2009 to 2011, but later moved to Comedy Central in January 2014. Despite the declining ratings for the third season, the show has received favorable reviews from critics. It earned a score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 87/100 score from Metacritic.
Both Glazer and Jacobson are outspoken Hillary Clinton supporters. The latter even appeared in an episode titled "2016" on the show's third season. Considering Trump's recent victory, people are excited to see how the show will respond to the latest news.
The season 3 finale left fans with a lot of unanswered questions. Will Ilana and Lincoln get back together? Where did Trey go? Are Ilana and Abbi truly okay after their fight? We are all hoping that these questions will be answered in the upcoming season, but until then we will just have to settle for past season reruns.
