“AMD Zen” Release Date, News & Updates: Summit Ridge Processor Renamed "AMD Ryze"’, Easily Outclasses Intel Core i7 6900K In Showdown

AMD has launched it most anticipated next generation CPU, renaming it from AMD Zen (Codename: Summit Ridge) to Ryzen. Ryzen showcased a revolutionized microprocessor architecture during the "New Horizon" event in Texas.

The high-performance processor acclaimed itself as a much better option than Intel Core i7 6900K processor. The massive beast hinted that it will ready to take on Intel dominance in the microprocessor market as both companies set to launch their next generation processors next month.

During the New Horizon event, AMD showcased how Ryzen delivered 40 percent improvement in instruction-per-clock (IPS) cycle than its predecessors without increasing its power requirement. It easily out powered and outperformed Intel Core i7 without power boosting. It also effortlessly beats Intel's flagship processor on framerates on a PC game showdown using heavily graphic video game Battlefield 1.

AMD also introduced SenseMI, which is built into the AMD Ryzen processor that combine advances in architectural, platform, efficiency, and processing technology to address the demanding needs of hardcore gamers and PC users. AMD SenseMI technology, the power behind efficient and seamless performance of Ryzen, showcased five amazing features, including:

a. Pure Power - more than 100 embedded sensors with accuracy to the millivolt, milliwatt, and single degree level of temperature enable optimal voltage, clock frequency, and operating mode with minimal energy consumption;

b. Precision Boost - smart logic that monitors integrated sensors and optimizes clock speeds, in increments as small as 25MHz, at up to a thousand times a second;

c. Extended Frequency Range (XFR) - when the system senses added cooling capability, XFR raises the Precision Boost frequency to enhance performance;

4. Neural Net Prediction - an artificial intelligence neural network that learns to predict what future pathway an application will take based on past runs; and

5. Smart Prefetch - sophisticated learning algorithms that track software behaviour to anticipate the needs of an application and prepare the data in advance.

"The Zen core at the heart of our Ryzen processors is the result of focused execution and thousands of engineering hours designing and delivering a next-level experience for high-end PC and workstation users. Ryzen processors with SenseMI technology represent the bold and determined spirit of innovation that drives everything we do at AMD," said AMD president and CEO Lisa Su.

While in both flagships of Intel and AMD stood head to head on feature and specs, Ryzen can easily set strong footing in the tech market with its much lower price tag - within the $200 to $700 range - compare to Intel's over $1,700. Watch AMD Ryzen vs Intel Core i7 6900K showdown here:
