Kanye West was seen arriving with his entourage at the Trump Tower on Tuesday morning to meet with President-Elect Donald Trump. The rapper was tight-lipped about his visit and ignored questions from reporters.
Donald Trump, Kanye West Are Long-Time Friends
The pair emerged at the lobby and posed for photos after the meeting. "We've been friends for a long time," Trump told reporters. The president-elect praised the singer and called him a "good man." When asked about the topics they discussed, Trump merely answered "life." West kept mum and avoided questions about a possibility of him performing at Trump's inauguration in January.
Based on reports from TMZ, it was the "Famous" singer who requested the meeting with the President-elect. West later explained on his Twitter account that he wished "to discuss multicultural issues" with Trump. He also added that these issues include "bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago."
Kanye Running For President in 2024?
The singer's appearance puts himself under the radar after weeks of hospitalization. West was hospitalized on November 21 due to speculations of severe exhaustion. The rapper had caused controversy in November after he stunned fans at a concert by declaring that he would have voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential elections, had he voted at all.
The Yeezy fashion designer finished off his series of tweets with an enigmatic "2024" statement. West is known for his outspoken criticism of politicians. He had declared his presidential bid in 2020 at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
People mocked him for his intentions, but West maintained that he wasn't joking at all. In an interview with BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac, Kanye West confirmed his desire to run in the 2020 elections. He stated that he "just have a view on humanity." West was last seen in the public eye on December 9 attending Rick Owens' furniture exhibition in Los Angeles prior to his appearance at the Trump Tower.
