"Yooka-Laylee" is preparing to release soon in both physical and digital formats. Developer Playtonic Games announced that players who pre-order will also provide access to the "Toybox Demo," regardless of the platform they are using.

'Yooka-Laylee' Arriving in 2017

On their Kickstarter page, Playtonic Games stated that "Yooka-Laylee" will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. However, they reportedly stopped developing the game for the Wii U. Instead, they are focusing on developing a Nintendo Switch version of "Yooka-Laylee."

The development team explained that they encountered unforeseen technical issues that made it impossible for them to offer "Yooka-Laylee" on the Wii U. However, they are currently collaborating with Nintendo to bring the game to the upcoming Nintendo Switch.

Gavin Price, Playtonic Games Studio Director, also stated that backers who pledged for the Wii U version of "Yooka-Laylee" can transfer their pledge to any other available platform. They will provide more details and updates in early 2017.

Playtonic also announced that they will provide pre-order bonuses for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of "Yooka-Laylee." The Toybox Demo will become available to those who pre-order the game. The Toybox is described as a self-contained and spoiler-free sandbox environment.

About Capital Cashino

In the meantime, Playtonic Games featured a new trailer, titled "Capital Cashino," showing some of the features and challenges that will be part of the game. Capital Cashino is a brand new world in "Yooka-Laylee," which is a marvelous playground with marble floors and various gaming setups.

In the gameplay video, the characters were shown moving through the casino, where they can compete to win casino tokens and huge bounty. Similar to other worlds in "Yooka-Laylee," players can opt to expand Capital Cashino. More updates and details are expected soon.

Engadget wrote that non-backers may no pre-order "Yooka-Laylee" for $39.99, which is more than the $24 that Kickstarter backers initially paid. The platform is set to launch on Apr. 11, 2017, while the Nintendo Switch version is expected to arrive later in the year.
