Followers of the genius inventor Tony Stark may have been discouraged with the speculations that there is no "Iron Man 4" at all. Rumors has it that Robert Downey Jr. is ready to move on from the "Iron Man" franchise and is currently occupied with "Sherlock Holmes 3."
The supposed-to-be fourth installation of "Iron Man" is one of the most anticipated films from Marvel. When Marvel Studios recently rolled out the Phase 3 movie line up for 2018, it is sad to note that "Iron Man 4" was not included.
One of the rumors making rounds around the internet as to why Tony Start is not returning for "Iron Man 4" is that Robert Downey Jr. is no longer fit for his superhero role. According to reports, the "Spider-Man" Homecoming" star Tom Holland has shared Easter Eggs that Riri Williams will replace Robert Downey's Jr. well-received character "Iron Man."
Other reports have it that the renowned actor RDJ is demanding for a pay hike for him to take the role again in "Iron Man 4" but Marvel is reluctant to give in. Some sources claim that Downey Jr.'s age is another factor as he is reportedly too old for another "Iron Man" film.
If any of these speculations could be true, then Tony Stark might be saying goodbye. The Iron Man might not return to the theaters for "Iron Man 4" despite the pleas from the fans that they want RDJ to reprise his superhero role.
Fans still see a ray of hope for "Iron Man 4" as there are still three movies slated to release in 2020, which Marvel Studios opted to leave the titles unknown for now. Meanwhile, catch Robert Downey Jr. in his famous red suit when "Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1" debuts in 2018 and "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2" releases in 2019.
While no one's quite certain yet as to what the future holds for Tony Stark and "Iron Man 4," one thing is certain that Robert Downey Jr. is set to reprise his role in "Sherlock Holmes 3." "The Judge" actor told Collider that they will start filming "Sherlock Holmes 3" this year. Although there are no updates about the film yet, fans are hoping to see Detective Sherlock Holmes on the big screen soon.
