When Battlefield 4 was first confirmed by EA, expectations were massive as to how the new game would pan out compared to Battlefield 3, especially with the next generation creeping around the corner. Sadly, the game really didn’t turn out the way it was expected to and arrived with a boatload of bugs and issues for every platform it was released on. However, it seems like the most affected among those was the version for PlayStation 4, but a newly released patch for the same is currently looking to fix most of those problems.
As reported, Battlefield 4’s version on PlayStation 4 recently got a massive, 600MB patch, which looks to add stability to the game while addressing a number of issues.
“We are rolling out a new game update on PS4. You might need to restart the game to have the update install,” the team wrote in its Battlelog page for the new patch while also adding that “We are already working on the next update based on your feedback.”
Apart from applying tweaks to the game’s general stability "that should remove a large amount of the client crashes" recurrently occurring for PS4 users, the patch also looks to reduce the likelihood of save files becoming corrupted by averting the saves from happening while heading out of the game’s multiplayer.
The patch also aims to fix some ambient sound audio drop issues that are currently occurring on large maps, and this includes the likes of Golmud Railway map in Conquest mode when 64 players were present.
Also, the previous blur effects on soldiers that seem to appear while Commanders use EMP attacks have been fixed, while issues related to crashes occurring during round transitions, while using BattleScreen and when destroying vehicles have also been addressed.
Lastly, there are some minor terrain destruction issues that have also been corrected via the patch.
Check out the entire list of fixes offered by the patch below:
-Fixed a crash that could occur when using the BattleScreen
-Fixed a random crash related to destroying vehicles
-Fixed minor destruction issues in the terrain
-Fixed multiple crashes that could occur when bringing up the in-game Battlelog during round transition
-Fixed the audio drop outs that could occur when playing on large maps. Typical map affected was Golmud Railway in Conquest with 64 players. Ambient sound would sometimes cut out, like foley sounds from player running, vehicle engine sounds, vehicle movement sounds, and map ambient sounds
-Further reduced the probability of getting a corrupt save file by doing miscellaneous changes to the save file system. These include removing the save file saving again when quitting multiplayer
-General stability fixes that should remove a large amount of the client crashes we are currently seeing on the PS4
-Removed the blur effect on soldiers that appeared when Commanders were using EMP attacks
