NBA Trade Rumors: Insider’s Report on DeMarcus Cousins to Boston Celtics Buzz

There's some truth to a DeMarcus Cousins to Boston Celtics trade rumors apparently. WBZ's Adam Kaufman reported that a source not associated with the Celtics or the Sacramento Kings informed him that there's some 'traction' on the much-talked potential deal.

While it's no secret the Celtics' desire of acquiring arguably the best offensive center in the league, no discussion or exploratory between the two ball-clubs ever happened. Kaufman cautioned his source should be considered an outsider, but it nevertheless tells that there's definitely something going around involving Cousins and Celtics.

Kaufmann Note, per NESN:

"Not reporting trade between the Celtics and Kings imminent or will even happen...but heard something regarding Cousins, C's that caught my attention. Basically, there are some other teams around #NBA that believe there's traction on Boogie deal...but not a Celtics or Kings source.

A Sharrod Blakely of CSNNE reported Celtics general manager Danny Ainge's main priority entering the trading season is to acquire a full-fledged star who can help push the team deep into the playoffs.

"Danny has enough good players," the source said. "He's looking for a star, or at least someone who is trending in that direction. It makes sense. Look at that team now. That's the only thing they're missing, really."

Blakely added if the Celtics failed to land any star via trade, Ainge would shift his attention to adding second or third-tier players who would complement the team such as an interior defender like Omer Asik.

"While the Celtics were rumored to have had interest in him [Asik] when he was in Chicago as well as during his time with the Pelicans, another league source indicated they anticipate the Celtics will take a wait-and-see approach with any potential trade that doesn't significantly enhance their chances at making a deep playoff run and being a contender in the East along with defending champion Cleveland and Toronto."

The 26-year old Cousins is easily the hottest name entering Dec. 15, which is basically the start of trading season where everybody - including newly-signed players - are available for trade.
