‘Shameless’ Season 8 Renewal, News & Update: Actress Emmy Rossum Fights For Equal Pay; Series To Continue Without Actress?

It seems that there may be a gender biased issue in the series "Shameless" as Emma Rossum fights for equal pay on female and male actresses and actors of the show in future seasons, which of course fans speculate that there may still be "Shameless" season 8. The show was a sure thing earlier, however, with how things are going, the show's future is uncertain.

"Shameless" Season 8 Negotiations

Season 7 of the show will end on December 18 and Showtime is currently negotiating with the female lead actress when she asked for a higher salary or at least as much as her lead actor William Macy is. According to THR, Emmy Rossum does not only want equal pay, but she also said that she wants to be paid more per episode compared to her co-star who also reportedly made more than her the past seasons. Emmy has become a focal point in the last season of "Shameless' that is why negotiations for "Shameless" season 8 is currently on hold.

William Macy was recently given a pay raise, and if Emmy's deal is successful, it will renegotiate plans for "Shameless" season 8 with other cast members like Jeremy Allen White and Cameron Monaghan. However, if Emmy Rossum, who plays Fiona, will not agree to the deal, then the show will either continue without her or will be canceled. Unless she and the network will agree on a price, the negotiations for the show are, at present, at a standstill.

The show has been aptly titled as Rossum has been "Shameless" on camera ever since the first season, and now her salary demands give you a "Shameless" Rossum off cam. There are reports that Emmy actually was offered the same deal that Showtime gave Macy. Do you think "Shameless" season 8 will come about? Well, fans can only wait and see.
