A lot is expected from Hideo Kojima, one of the most respected game developers in industry., including his new game "Death Stranding." He recently teased an exclusive picture of Mads, one he calls "precious," that only the development team has seen.
The "Death Stranding" game is still shrouded in mystery and a lot of fans are confused by the game's trailers. Although Kojima remains tight-lipped about much of the game's details and elements, he explained the trailer to Digital Spy. "A 'strand' in psychology is often used to refer to ties or chains. So how all the crabs [in the trailer] have this weird umbilical cord and how the baby is tied to Norman [Reedus' character] is a representation of this," he said.
Kojima also announced via Twitter his happiness over being able to use Guerilla's Decima Game Engine for his upcoming title, "Death Stranding." He added that this partnership with the developers of "Horizon Zero Dawn" can give players an out-of-this-world experience, one they've never experienced before.
On Twitter, Kojima said he only aimed for the moon but his partners at Guerilla wanted to go to Mars with "Death Stranding." In effect, Kojima believes that together they can even reach Jupiter. The collaboration was revealed at the Sony Playstation Experience earlier this month and Herman Hulst of Guerilla added that the Decima engine took a "quantum leap" to produce such level of gameplay.
"We believe their engine will help make a better game, and a better future for our industry," said Kojima during PSX of the "Death Stranding." "Their engine is well suited to the tools and systems of an open-world game. This was a very important aspect for us," he added.
Although he decided to leave Konami and the "Metal Gear" franchise behind, a solid fanbase still waits for his future titles. "Death Stranding" stars "The Walking Dead" actor Norman Reedus and "Star Wars: Rogue One's" Mads Mikkelsen. It will reportedly be available for the PS4 and PC. The game is still in its early stages of development but it is expected to be a highlight at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June 2017.
