One of NBC's few bonafide hits, "Chicago Fire," is about to hark back to someone else's past as an ex-wife is now confirmed to make a return in the twelfth episode of "Chicago Fire" Season 5. But will her return provide a happy reunion?
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that America Olivo is set to reprise her role as Laura, the ex-wife of Jon Seda's Detective Antonio Dawson. Olivo is confirmed to be playing the role again on the show's episode twelfth, which is now in its fifth season. As such, Olivo's role reprisal will serve as her first foray in "Chicago Fire" Season 5 but as per in the entire "Fire" universe, her reported return will just be one of her many guest appearances.
The "Friday The 13th" actress has already appeared for a total of six episodes in "Chicago Fire's" spin off "Chicago P.D." in its earlier seasons. Notably, the Dawsons were still happily married during that time, well right before Laura herself has served Antonio the divorce papers at the end of the first installment. Antonio and Laura have two children. The people behind "Chicago Fire" Season 5 are yet to confirm whether the actress will recur throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Seda was a mainstay actor in "P.D." right until last month. In addition, he is set to transition to the show's legal spin off 'Chicago Justice" when it airs in 2017. On the other hand, the Detective Antonio Dawson has been recurring quite heavily in season 5 of "Chicago Fire" as he is now involved with his sister Gaby's co-worker paramedic Sylvie Brett, who is being portrayed by Kara Killmer. There is no word yet whether Laura and Antonio's new woman will confront as the season progresses.
America Olivo has recently starred in "Mission: Impossible — The Rogue Nation" and "Maniac." "Chicago Fire" Season 5 is scheduled to return on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 9PM ET on NBC. Its recent episode titled "One Hundred" which aired on Dec. 6, 2016 also happened to be the show's 100th episode.
