As news about Michael Schumacher continuously fighting his injuries, reports about his son joining the Mercedes junior program. This is a ladder that lead the racer's son to follow his father's footsteps in Formula One racing.
Schumacher's 17-year-old son, Mick, is rumored to be part of the Mercedes junior program with Merc trying to find and hone young talents in racing. He may really be aiming to be like his father who is one of the biggest names in Formula One.
Racing record
Mick is not new in the racing scene with the numerous competitions he has joined even at a young age. He also holds the top spot in the MRF Challenge Formula 2000 championship after four out of 12 races for the event. The championship is expected to hold its finale next year at the Madras Motor Racing Track in Sriperumbudur, Chennai in India.
With his current standing and talent, it is highly possible that Mick could soon be part of the junior drivers of Mercedes. It was a long journey for Mick to reach this point but he surely deserves it after everything he and his family has been through.
Career struggles
When he began racing on a go kart during his early years, the younger Schumacher was not able to use his real name because they did not want him to get a lot of attention from racing fans, especially those who really follow his father's career. He had to use the nickname Mick Betsch, after the maiden name of his mom, Corinna.
He was a top and consistent racer but the Schumacher family suffered one of the biggest blows in their lives three years ago when a skiing incident in the French Alps seriously injured Michael Schumacher. He was placed in a coma, awoken from his sleep and his now continuing his recovery at his Swiss home located on the shore of Lake Geneva.
Renewed hope
Though very little news about his recovery came out in the past years, fans got really excited when the official Facebook page for his fans went live last November 13. This gave fans renewed hope for the recovery of the Formula One racer as the text in the cover photo read "Keep fighting, never give up."
