Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD Release Set for January [VIDEO]

Ubisoft Announces the HD Remake of Assassin's Creed Liberation Arrives January 15

If you never bothered to play as the first female assassin when Liberation first arrived on the PS Vita, you'll get your chance. Granted, Aveline de Grandpré had a small role to play in PlayStation versions of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, but now everyone can have a go with the southern belle turned creole cut-throat. Ubisoft announced earlier this week that the HD revamp of Liberation will be available as a digital download for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on the 15th of this January.

Gameplay wise, it's still very much the same game that hit to Vita as a handheld only title, save for have bonus missions, enhanced gameplay mechanics, improved visuals, re-worked facial animations and a re-mastered soundtrack.

As detailed by the European arm of the PlayStation Blog, "The groundbreaking AnvilNext engine returns to bring the steamy Louisiana bayou and mystical Mayan ruins to incredibly realistic life with its unique tree navigation system, detailed physics simulation and smooth animation."

"Assassin's Creed Liberation HD capitalises on the move to more powerful hardware in every possible way with improved graphics, add gameplay bonuses like new missions and re-mastered music and new sound effects!"

In the run of assassins we've seen so far sport some pretty impressive equipment for the day, and Aveline is no different. The babe from the bayou sports a blowgun, dual pistols (long before we met Edward Kenway), sugar cane machete, cracks a whip, and even keeps fashion forward, abandoning the traditional assassin hood for a tri-corner hat.

Her story takes place in New Orleans roughly around the time of the Louisiana Rebellion, shortly before Assassin's Creed III's Connor became an assassin.
