"X-men" fans rejoice! After the news broke loose in the last few months that 20th Century Fox will make a reboot of the "X-men" franchise after the disappointing performance of "X-Men: Apocalypse" in the box office. It has now been confirmed by the President of MELS Studios, Michel Trudel that the untittled new "X-men" movie will start production in 2017 and will possibly be released in 2018.
"They will start shooting in May and they will occupy Studios 2 and 3 of MELS for several months. We had two and a half months of negotiations with the people of Fox. I went to Los Angeles last October to try to convince them," Trudel said in an interview with Journal De Montreal. The interview with Michel Trudel was translated by Den of Geek according to Comic Book.
"We are very pleased that they have agreed to return to Montreal. They enjoyed their two previous shooting experience with us and they were very satisfied with our facilities and talent of the Quebec film industry," The president of MELS Studios continued. Since the reboot news and the actor's contracts have expired in the new "X- Men" franchise, it seems that "X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga" adaptation might not push trough.
Simon Kinberg, the new X-Men producer confirmed that they will begin shooting during spring of 2017 and it is still unknown on what the next "X-Men" will be about or who will join the cast. Slash Film reported that "(500) Days of Summer" director Scott Neustadter and "The Spectacular" director Micheal H. Weber will be helping Josh Boone to direct the new "X-Men" film.
Josh Boon directed the teen drama movie, "The Fault in Out Stars" and the "X-Men" film will be his transition to the "comic book blockbuster movie" genre. Stay tuned for more updates here on GameNGuide about the new "X-Men" movie updates.
