Nintendo Offering Super Mario 3D Land for Free for Gamers Registering Their 3DS

Want Super Mario 3D Land for Free? Read This

Nintendo's Wii U may be struggling, but Super Mario 3D World looks to be the console's first break out hit. Coupled with the company's handheld lineup, which has never been stronger, it looks like Nintendo may be set for a comeback. In an attempt to bring even more back to them, the company is promising owners their choice of free game. The catch? Not much of one really, all you have to do is register your 3DS.

As of today, 3DS owners have until January 13 to register their 3DS, 3DS XL, or 2DS, and one of fifteen games with Club Nintendo. Those who do earn themselves the right to request a free download code to grab Super Mario 3D Land for free from the Nintendo eShop. Pop in the code, and the game is yours. Once you register, you have one month (February 13) to redeem the code and get the game.

The offer works with the following games:

- Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros.
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
- Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
- Fire Emblem: Awakening
- Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon
- LEGO CITY Undercover: The Chase Begins
- Sonic Lost World (Nintendo 3DS version)
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Nintendo 3DS version)
- Pokémon X
- Pokémon Y
- Bravely Default
- New Super Mario Bros. 2
- Mario Kart 7
- Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy

Super Mario 3D World is the first game in the Super Mario 3D series to include multiplayer. Playable characters are Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Blue Toad, who retain similar abilities from Super Mario Bros. 2 on the NES: Peach floats, Toad is quick, Luigi has that absurd looking but effective flutter kick, etc.

The game introduces the new setting of the Sprixie Kingdom, which features the eponymous creatures, coupled with appearances from classic Mario enemies. It currently has a 94 rating from aggregate score site Metacritic.
