Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway is scheduled to square off as the main event of the UFC 206 card for the featherweight belt. It now appears that the match will take place, but with only Holloway eligible to claim the title due to Pettis' disqualification.
After missing the mark weighing in three pounds over the featherweight championship limit, Pettis misses the chance to hoist his second UFC belt. Pettis (19-5) was 148 pounds at the official weigh-in, exceeding the allowed weight of 145. Holloway (16-3) came in right at 145 pounds.

Anthony Pettis and Max Holloway will still be the main event at the UFC 206 on Saturday at Air Canada Centre, but UFC president Dana White told ESPN that it is now an interim title fight for Max "Blessed" Holloway only. If Pettis wins, he won't be an interim champion and Pettis will forfeit 20 percent of his purse, which is standard, according to ESPN.

Pettis said after tipping the scales and missing the weight, "My body just wouldn't let go of that extra weight. We did all the works right beforehand, the whole lot was on point. I had nothing more left to give." Anthony Pettis arrived in Canada on weight but things just didn't go his way in the final stages of the cut and he needed to give more importance to his health over everything else.
