CW's historically based TV series, "Reign" is coming back for the last time to tell the story of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland as she struggles to defeat the enemies surrounding her. Adelaide Kane who plays Mary has confirmed on her instagram post that the series will not be renewed for season 5. However, fans will be happy to know that "Reign" Season 4 is all set to air on February 2017.
Following the previous reports, Reign has been widely criticized for its deviation from the historical facts, which creates misleading information to the viewers. Now, rumors are rife, that the reason why the producers have cancelled the series is because of the increasing protests from the historians who are concerned about Mary Stuart's life. With this, "Reign" Season 4 will shift back to the historical events.
In a previous report by Gamenguide, Elizabeth and Mary's rivalry intensifies as two monarchs wrestle to protect their crowns. The rivalry of Mary and Elizabeth has been introduced during the third season of the series, which created hatred in Mary's heart at the execution of Lola. "Reign" Season 4 will mark the greatest threat to Mary's life.
Adelaide Kane expressed that she is very saddened at the series' cancellation, as she has already learned to love show, and the cast involved for "Reign" Season 4. However, she is ready to move on with other role opportunities. Variety reports that series has not been very competitive in terms of its rating, since it only averaged to 0.3 in the Nielsen's live-same-day ratings.
In the same report by Gamenguide, a leaked script tells of Elizabeth conniving with some of Mary's close friends including her husband, Bothwell to frame up Mary and eventually behead her. Fans will expect a bewildered Elizabeth trying to take down Mary in "Reign" Season 4.
