Finn Balor underwent surgery on August 24 to repair an injured shoulder. He was given four to six months of recovery before he gets cleared to wrestle again. The first-ever WWE Universal Champion recently gave an update on his injury.
"The Demon King" posted on Twitter some facts about his surgery. He noted that he is still rehabbing his shoulder 15 weeks after his injury. He also mentioned that his shoulder is getting stronger and he loves seeing Roderick Strong every day at the WWE Performance Center.
Balor became the first-ever WWE Universal champion at SummerSlam. He defeated Seth Rollins to win the title but it came at a price. He injured his shoulder mid-match after receiving a powerbomb onto the barricade outside.
The 35-year-old Irishman relinquished his championship the next night on Raw. He underwent surgery immediately to repair his injury. He also got a stem cell procedure to make the recovery process quicker and also help strengthen his shoulder, per FOX Sports.
In a recent interview on The Sam Roberts Wrestling podcast (h/t Wrestling Inc.), Balor revealed the rigorous schedule of his rehabilitation. He also noted that returning for WrestleMania 33 is his target and it looks like he will just make it right on time.
"Six hours of rehab every day. Three in the morning, yeah, three hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon. And the guys down in Birmingham, Alabama have been incredible. I've been working out with them every day," Balor said.
The target's WrestleMania. There's talk it could be sooner, but really that's the hard target. And that's what I'm aiming for right now," he added.
There have been rumors that Finn Balor will return at the Royal Rumble and he is the betting favorite to win the match. Nevertheless, the WWE is better with him on the roster and they need him to be 100 percent healthy.
