There were new secrets that were uncovered recently in "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon." Some players were able to dig more into the game and have found unused files. It was found out that the files were actually walking animations of the Pokémon that is similar to the buddy feature of the past "Pokémon" entries.
It seems that the buddy feature was left out for "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" since a user from Twitter that goes by the name of KazoWAR has discovered some unused files. KazoWAR and also other fans found out that the latest installments contained walking and resting animations of Pokémon from the old and new generation. The animations were shown by posting a GIF on the social media platform, and it is obvious that a lot of effort were put in making the Pokémon move.
Furthermore, it was not just the walking animation that was uncovered, but there were also different movements for the various types of Pokémon. The bird Pokémon usually flies while the Ghost-types just float around. Other animations showed Ditto just dragging itself and also Graveler rolling around by turning into a boulder. There is a possible indication that the buddy system that was found in the predecessors was supposed to be part of "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon."
According to reports, the buddy system was first introduced in the 2009 installments, "Pokémon Heart Gold" and "Pokémon Soul Silver." The feature allows the trainers to have one Pokémon follow them around, and the buddy system was also useful in solving puzzles. However, the system was not present with the entries that followed. One of the reasons why it was possibly removed from "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" may be due to the limitations of the cartridge.
Furthermore, a lot of fans are already speculating that the feature may be present in the follow-up of "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" called "Pokémon Stars." It is rumored that the upcoming entry will be launched in the latest Nintendo Switch, but this is yet to be confirmed until Game Freak has officially announced the details.
