iOS 10.2 Release Date, Latest News & Update: Apple Integrating Battery Shutdown Solution For iPhone 6s With Next OS Rollout

The battery drain tied up to the iPhone 6s remains a mystery but a solution could be out soon. This may very well be in the form of iOS 10.2, something that is already in the sixth beta stage.

The issue involves iPhones reportedly shutting down when they reach 30 percent. As mentioned in a previous post, Apple justified that all these were part of a feature they installed. They only problem is that the feature was to shut down iPhones when they reach 40% and when they are in extreme cold conditions.

To explain the difference, Apple believes that these are iPhone 6s models manufactured between September to October 2015. Serial keys to figure out if an iPhone 6s is qualified for a battery replacement can be found here.

Now, there is word that Apple will be adding a diagnostic feature which will gather data. These will eventually contribute to the algorithms for better battery management, not to mention giving Apple a better picture on the battery performance and shutdowns, Apple Insider reported.

That said, there may or may not be a resolution on iOS 10.2 concerning the inadvertent iPhone shutdowns. Rather, it seems more like a step towards that direction, indicating a battery replacement for affected iPhone 6s owners may be the best way to go about it.

Curiously, the iPhone 6s has been around for quite some time and the battery drain issue only cropped up with iOS 10. With that in mind, most are under the impression that a patch may be the best way to address a problem that suddenly came out in the open.

Some of the features expected for iOS 10.2 include a TV app, and a single sign-on support for TV providers. Compatibility and security improvements are also likely, seeing how iOS 10 has been plagued but these issues the past weeks.
