One of the most epic that could happen in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is to feature Nina Dobrev. Fans have been fervently hoping that they will see a conclusion between Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder.
However, it seems the actor is reluctant to have his ex-girlfriend back. As such, the series creator has prepared two alternate endings just in case Dobrev won't return for the series finale.
Ian Somerhalder Against Nina Dobrev's Return?
Series creator Julie Plec earlier revealed that the network is in talks with Dobrev for her return in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. It was earlier reported that Dobrev and The CW president Mark Pedowitz are already negotiating her return.
To date, her appearance for the series finale hasn't been confirmed nor finalized. "All I can say, because there is nothing written in stone, but Nina made me a promise when she left that she would come back and be part of the goodbye," Plec was quoted saying by Pop Sugar.
She continued, "And I intend on holding her to that, and I'm sure she intends on living up to it as well." However, there are rumors saying that Ian Somerhalder is against his ex-girlfriend's return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.
Right now, Dobrev is occupied in promoting her latest film "XXX: Return of Xander Cage" with Vin Diesel. This could also hold her back from appearing in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. While Dobrev's return has been agreed by both parties, there's the matter of the actress' schedule.
Alternate Endings For "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8
While it remains uncertain if Dobrev will return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, the series creator has prepared alternate endings just in case Dobrev won't be able to make it. Plec has promised fans that she will deliver a satisfying ending that fans can be contented and happy with regardless of Dobrev's absence.
Meanwhile, Dobrev remains mum on the matter, directing the questions towards the series producers in an interview with Digital Spy during the American Music Awards. While she admitted that she could return to bid goodbye to her fans, the producers still have the final say.
