Square Enix is not done with their latest hit "Final Fantasy XV". "Final Fantasy XV" is already the fastest selling entry of the iconic JRPG franchise and it looks like Square Enix will be bringing more to the game. In a press release hosted by Square Enix, "Final Fantasy XV" director Hajime Tabata detailed the studio's plans for the game.
In the press conference, Hajime Tabata first thanked the fans for the huge support that "Final Fantasy XV" received. And as a sign of gratitude for the fans, Hajime Tabata assured that gamers can expect more to come to the world of "Final Fantasy XV". The studio has decided to strengthen their update plan beyond Final Fantasy's original schedule. According to the director, the updates promise to bring a richer "Final Fantasy XV" experience to players that let's them play "Final Fantasy XV" for a much longer time beyond the main story chapters. Some of the improvements are based on the feedback of players after the release and will be available to dowlaod for free in addition to a purchasable DLC.
The director detailed the plans for the short, medium and long term of "Final Fantasy XV". For the short term plan, Square Enix plans to improve the gameplay of chapter 13. The changes include increasing the power of magic ring. This is a welcome addition as reviewers have mentioned that magic in "Final Fantasy XV" is next to useless.
For the medium term, Square Enix plans to improve the production values of chapter 13 to enhance the story experience of "Final Fantasy XV". These include added cutscenes that will require additional voice over work and localization. This will require some degree of work hence Square Enix put these changes on the medium term plan.
Lastly, the long term plan includes additional playable characters. Throughout the whole course of the game, Noctis is the character the player controls about 95% of the time. Players can control Noctis's other 3 party members but only for a short while during special attacks. Outside of Noctis and his friends, players don't have any other options for different party members. An additional party member will definitely enhance the gameplay. Luna is most probably the new playable character since she is one of the major characters of "Final Fantasy XV" and having a woman as a playable character will certainly change the party dynamics of Noctis and his all male team. In addition, an avatar which the players can fully customize is also part of the long term plans.
Other plans not detailed include a new game plus, level limiter and live content. It looks like Square Enix is putting everything they have on "Final Fantasy XV". This can only be good news for Final Fantasy fans around the world.
