LeBron James and his business associates are in the middle of a rift with New York Knicks president Phil Jackson. It was due to Jackson's "posse" comments about James and the two sides had some comments about each other.
In a conversation with Dave McMenamin of ESPN on Tuesday, James revealed that he has no interest in meeting with Jackson. He added that Jackson's comments have no effects on him but he believes that he is used to shade being thrown at him.
"I've always given respect to them, and it's always, like I told you before, it's always shade thrown on me, so. It means we got a lot more work to do, myself and the team. We've got to continue to protect each other and continue to just be as great as we can be," James said.
On the other hand, Jackson told the CBS Sports Network that his "posse" comments are something that he might regret. However, the 11-time champion did not make any apology but he wants to get past the issue and move on.
"I don't think there was anybody hurt or harmed in this situation. I think LeBron's friend obviously had an issue with it. So we just let it go. It's not enough to talk about it," Jackson said.
The whole issue started when Phil Jackson called LeBron James' business associate "posse" during an interview. The Knicks president was asked about James' decision to leave the Miami Heat in the summer of 2014.
"The King" responded by telling the media that he has lost respect for Jackson. He added that he still respect the 71-year-old Hall of Famer as a head coach. However, the comments might have affected James' longtime friend and business partner, Maverick Carter.
James and Carter have told in several interviews that they don't want their group to be called a "posse" because of its connotation. Nevertheless, the issue seems to be getting better since Jackson and James want to move from all of it.
