Fans are still hoping for "True Detective" Season 3, however, the show's writer Nic Pizzolatto seems to be too busy to mind the failed HBO series. But unlike him, Colin Farrell and Matthew McConaughey expressed their interest in being part of the show if it will be renewed.
Rumor has it that "True Detective" Season 3 has a high possibility to be renewed but not this year or in 2017. Reports claim that the renewal might happen in 2018 as the mind behind the series' production is still busy for "Westworld". The show's twisted story or more like confusing plotline captivated the viewer's mind and it means Dolores and the gang will be the priority for now.
According to News Every Day, in HBO's statement, "True Detective" Season 3 is not canceled but more like a reserved show in the future. The programming executive director of HBO, Casey Bloys, revealed that they are still waiting for the go signal.
Bloys added that the scriptwriters of the show "hasn't given the go signal yet" to finally produce a storyline for "True Detective" Season 3. To clarify the rumors, Bloys pointed out that there is still a possibility for the renewal.
On the other hand, though there are other reports that "True Detective" will more likely to be released in 2018, Bloys revealed that the show might push through next year, 2017, the same year "Westworld" Season 2 will air. The changes in season 3 storyline is yet to be announced but fans hope that the of their favorite actors will come back.
Farrell and McConaughey expressed their desire to be on the show. Both expressed how they love being in the show.
Farrell said that even though the season 2 reviews are not good, he still defends the show by saying that the experience was incredible. Meanwhile, McConaughey also admitted how he misses playing his character Rust Cohle.
