Damian Lewis is said to be in the final negotiations to join the cast of Ocean's 8 as the villain of the film.
Ocean's Eight is the female spin-off of the Ocean's Eleven trilogy of comedy heist films. The spin-off stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Anne Hathaway. Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson and Awkwafina will also be part of the cast. The movie centers around Bullock's character who is the leader of a crew of thieves and the group attempts to pull off a major heist at the annual Met Gala.
The Homeland alum was spotted at the set recently and sources can now confirm Lewis's role in the movie. While not much detais have been released about Damian Lewis's character, what is known is that he is the ex-lover of Sandra Bullock's character and the target of the big heist planned by Bullock's crew.
Matt Damon will also have a cameo in the film, probably as a nod to the universe of the main series. Gary Ross will be directing the movie and also penned the script together with Olivia Milch. Steven Soderbergh, the director of the original Ocean's Eleven, will also produce the film. Ross have described Ocean's Eight as a continuation of Soderbergh's work and will also have the same tone. He and his crew have closely worked with Soderbergh in doing the film. Shooting is already ongoing at New York.
Ocean's Eight is set to be released on June 8, 2018.
