Marvel Studios just broke the record for the highest number of views in one day for a film by the studio. The first official teaser of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” got 81 million views within the first 24 hours it was released.
However, it failed to break the record which belongs to “Beauty and the Beast,” James Gunn, the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” wrote on his Facebook page. He thanked the fans for watching the teaser which was debuted at CCXP in Brazil, and for sharing the teaser and welcoming Mantis and Baby Groot with open arms, Movieweb reports.
Ego The Living Planet
There were some elements in the newly released teaser not seen at the showing by Marvel of some footage at the San Diego Comic-Con during summer. It includes Kurt Russell as Ego The Living Planet. In October, James Gunn released to the public the first footage of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” which gave viewers the first look at Mantis.
Who Is Mantis?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mantis was initially drawn by Don Heck and created by writer Steve Englehart. She initially came out in 1973 as a comic book character in “Avengers No. 112” as a sidekick to Swordsman, a reformed villain. The two met in Vietnam where Mantis – portrayed by Pom Klementieff in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” – was a sex trade worker.
Besides video teasers, songs from the movie are also effective ways to attract moviegoers to "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" slated for release on May 5, 2017. “Fox On The Run,” performed by Sweet, and the teaser song, is number 1 on iTunes. It was similar when Blue Swede’s “Hooked On a Feeling” served as the teaser for “Guardians of the Galaxy,” James Gunn said.
