PlayStation 4 Release Date, Specs, Games, Price, Tech: How the Boxes Look

Here's What PlayStation 4 Game Cases Look Like

Yesterday, we showed you how the game cases look for Microsoft's next-gen console, the Xbox One. Seemingly not to be outdone, pictures have since popped up showing how the boxes appear for Microsoft's counterpart, Sony's PlayStation 4.

Now that demo kiosks and promotional materials are starting to pop up at various retailers across the country, it's much easier to get an idea how things will turn out for either new system. But, since I'm sure some of you are reading this from the inside of a cubicle or a school desk, you can't just mosey on down to your local GameStop or Best Buy and see things for yourself.

That's why you should thank NeoGAF user nhlducks35, who went to his local Gamestop to see the store's PS4 setup, and snapped a few pictures of the game cases for the system.

The most notable change from the PlayStation 3 cases is that Sony has changed from clear plastic to a dark blue, but still semi-transparent. The PS4 cases are also a bit thinner and narrower, but taller, so you may have to do some rearranging of your game shelf. It's actually somewhat reminescent of the cases for the PlayStation 2 if you can remember that far back.

You can see the pictures for yourself below.

Under the hood, the PS4 boasts Supercharged PC architecture, X86 CPU, Enhanced PC GPU, and 8GB Unified Memory. It will support the same PlayStation Plus service as the Vita and PlayStation 3. However, a Plus subscription will be required for online multiplayer games, but not for additional media services like Netflix. Sony has also updated the Dual Shock controllers with a touch screen and improved shoulder triggers, and bundles the console with a headset.

The PlayStation 4 is set to release on November 15 in North America and on November 29 in Europe. Day one games available for the system include Assassin's Creed IV: Black FlagBattlefield 4Call of Duty: GhostsKillzone Shadow FallMadden NFL 25MinecraftNBA 2K14Need for Speed: Rivals, and more. It will retail for $399.
