Smartwatches have been getting more streamlined and more technical, and now it's time for them to look good. Grayton has come up with a solution by embedding the tech into the strap.
Smartwatches have been increasing in popularity as the designs have become more stylish. Still, they have a hard time contending with the classic elegance of an analog watch. Origin is the new watch that revolutionizes the watch industry: a classic mechanical timepiece with a smart strap to connect time and life.
Grayton Origin's Smart Features Contained Within The Smart Strap
With Grayton's Origin, smartwatches feature the best of both worlds. The face of the watch is a self-winding timepiece made to last generations. It has an open-heart face and a see-through back cover.
This watch is meant to appreciate the mechanisms behind an analog watch. The smart band offers the convenience of a modern smartwatch. The strap connects to the phone with Bluetooth for activity tracking, notifications, controlling music, and more, writes Digital Trends.
Grayton Origin: Regular Mechanical Watch With A Smart Band
Charging the Origin smart band is a simple feat with only two hours thru the flip-out USB port at the end of the strap and ten days of power is in the hand of the user. This is where the watch really differs from other smartwatches. Because of the analog face, users will never lose the ability to tell time. When the strap that is designed to fit standard 20mm and 22mm watches loses juice, one is left with a really nice, standard watch.
According to Wearable, the Grayton Origin has already hit its funding target and consumers can bag an Origin for $199 pricetag with a smart strap in the box. Delivery is estimated to be in May 2017. The Grayton Origin itself is a very nice looking mechanical watch, something of a steal. But it's no smartwatch. It's a channel for the smart strap, which looks a remarkable proposition, but seems a little light on details.
