HBO's critically acclaimed "Westworld" recently capped off its first season to the astonishment and bewilderment of many fans. "The Bicameral Mind" was a rollercoaster of twists and turns, and culminated in Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) putting a bullet in the head of the park's godlike creator, Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins). Is "Westworld" Season 2 happening?
Now that the safety's off for the park's hosts, what can fans expect from them in "Westworld" Season 2? Here's everything you need to know about the dystopian television series: spoilers, release dates, updates and more.
More parks like 'Westworld'
Toward the end of "Westworld" Season 1, it had been teased that there were other parks in the world much like the old Western-themed park, like Samurai World. As such, "Westworld" Season 2 is expected to showcase these different worlds. It's likely that Dolores will work to emancipate the hosts in these amusement parks as well.
Moreover, by setting these hosts free, the show is now free to explore chaos in "Westworld" Season 2, according to showrunner Jonathan Nolan. Especially now that William and the Man in Black are revealed to be one and the same, fans can never really tell the current timeline each storyline is going.
Dr. Ford is alive
While it may seem that Dolores has finally put an end to the egomaniacal Robert Ford, "Westworld" Season 2 theories suggested that Ford may actually be alive and well. Nolan himself cautioned fans not to take every event in "Westworld" at face value, further hinting that Dr. Ford may not be as dead as everyone thinks. The most popular theory regarding his fate is that the "Ford" Dolores killed was just a host, and that the real Ford is still out there, conniving to ignite a revolution among the host against their human oppressors. "Westworld" Season 2 is expected to launch sometime in HBO in 2018.
