Anyone who ordered Slender: The Arrival just got an interesting e-mail from Blue Isle Studios, informing them that the game was coming to Valve's Steam distribution service, and in time for the year's most frightful of holidays: Halloween.
"Only you are allowed to know about it. This Halloween we'll be on Steam. More importantly, there's new content. Here's a sneak peak, Keep it Quiet. The rest of the world doesn't know," the e-mail reads. But this being the Internet, of course the e-mail has managed to sneak out from people trying to get an idea as to what this new content is, who also managed to get a "pruned" version according to a message from the developer at the game's forum.
The missing portion is the picture seen above, which shows the titular lanky individual with some frightening new facial features, possibly even a new hairdo. Quite the improvement considering the creature's trademark look is the complete lack of any physiognomical distinguishments.
Based on the free-to-play The Eight Pages, The Arrival was a full game follow-up that released back in March for both PC and Mac. It featured the same gameplay but added a story and improved the game's visuals.
The studio has also been eying consoles for a possible release. Shortly before the game's...arrival...the company's Alex Tintor stated, "we'd love to bring this to consoles. I think console gamers would really enjoy an experience like this."
"As for Android or any other form of mobile, we'll only do it if we feel that we can rework and adapt the experience in a really meaningful way. I think if we were to copy and paste our PC game to mobile devices, players would be pretty underwhelmed."
Tintor went on to say, "it's a wholly different medium that deserves a brand new approach to game design. So with that said, we're going to take a wait and see approach and evaluate our options after the PC release."
