All the while, every bit of information or report related to Microsoft’s upcoming next-generation Xbox One console has about either about its technological prowess, or the highly criticized policies that Microsoft was forced to change in the wake public outcry. However, new information related to the console has now detailed more about the device’s warranty, and past issues related to the infamous ‘Red Ring of Death.’
Recently, Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb spoke about the different factors involved in the release of the new console. He also confirmed that consumers can expect greater levels of dependability from the Xbox One, with users also receiving the standard consumer electronics warranty for their new console.
“Well, certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us,” he stated in a video interview with Newegg Arcade (see below).
“With the Xbox One it is standard consumer electronics warranty. We are really excited about the reliability that folks will get out of the Xbox One. We had a lot of learning coming out of the Xbox 360 and we have put it in Xbox One. It has been in development for many, many years.”
Hyrb also went on to confirm that not only will the Xbox One support 4K resolution for entertainment and media purposes, but also for gaming.
“We are really excited about that too. I am sure your audience knows that 4K is the next big thing. Xbox One is a home entertainment system that is built for future. It supports 4K gaming and entertainment,” he said. “In fact we are shipping an HDMI cable that is 4K rated. So when you get your HDMI cable out of the box it is 4K rated. We are looking forward to bringing 4K capabilities to our consumers in the future, but it depends on the developers.”
Microsoft's Xbox One is currently set for a November 2013 release, and will retail for $499. Check the entire interview below.
