Overwatch Wins 'Game of the Year' Title

Overwatch, one of the awaited games of 2016, has bagged the title as 'Game of the Year' during the Game Awards 2016. There are a lot of really good games that competed for the title but Overwatch came out strong.

Blizzard Entertainment has made a lot of good games and it is no surprise that Overwatch is one good game that gives you your money's worth. Commercially, Overwatch has done well as it has gathered a lot of buyers and gamers playing it the moment of its official release (and some even before that). But this is not the only qualifier for 'Game of the Year'.

Although there are some gamers who express their surprise and even disappointment for the winning of Overwatch, others still feel that they deserve the title. The Game Awards is one of the events in the gaming community that has triggered a lot of attention. Gamers would want to know which games are worth playing and they would also want to cheer for the games that they love. The most important award, however, is the 'Game of the Year' award and people are all eyes and ears.

The event commenced last December 1 wherein all the games in the entirety of 2016 had their previews played. Many fans and guests lined up to attend this long-awaited event and some games garnered a lot of minor awards. Overwatch gained THREE minor awards that led to it taking the cake as 'Game of the Year'.

The other awards that Overwatch won was: Best Studio/Best Game Direction award, Best Multiplayer Game, and Best eSports Game. But nothing can compare to the title of 'Game of the Year'.

Other nominees for 'Game of the Year' are Titanfall 2, Doom, Inside, and Overwatch. All games have really good graphics and gameplay but Overwatch came supreme. Overwatch was in fact nominated for six awards, garnering the four and losing the two to Doom and Inside.

The developers spent 7 years making and re-making the game. It first started as a(n) MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) game until the creators decided not to push it. That decision was probably one of the best they had made. Regardless of the negative criticism, it is safe to concur that Overwatch is worthy for the title of 'Game of the Year'.
