‘The Harry Potter’ News & Update: The Cursed Child; Nominated For 11 Whatsonstage Award!

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is already highly praised by the London Theater Critics, for both in hardware and reviews. But the awards for this season is only getting pumped up, there's going to be plenty of awards for the show to gather. Their latest wind up is for the WhatOnStage Awards, which will be held on February 19, 2017, at the Prince of Wales Theatre in London.

The awards season is upon on, and "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" has been nominated for 11 Whatsonstage Awards for the 2016 season.

The "WhatsOnStage Awards" are voted on by the public, they are more like a popularity contest and fans critics are welcomed in this situation. But that means that the Harry Potter fans, also known as "Potterheads" can vote for their favorites. The Cursed Child has an entire slew of nominations they've been included with, dominating the pack with 11 in all.

Some of those nominations include:

o Jamie Parker for Harry Potter, Best Actor in a Play

o Anthony Boyle for Scorpius Malfoy, Best Supporting Actor

o Paul Thornley for Ron Weasley, Best Supporting Actor

o Poppy Miller for Ginny Potter, Best Supporting Actress

o Noma Dumezweni for Hermione Granger, Best Supporting Actress

In the technicals:

o Katrina Lindsay for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Best Costume Design

o Finn Ross and Ash Woodward for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Best Video Design

o Christine Jones for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Best Set Design

o Neil Austin for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Best Lighting Design

o John Tiffany for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Best Direction

And of course:

o Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Best New Play

A couple of "Harry Potter" alumni are also involved for the nomination including the Best Actor category against Jamie Parker, including Sir Kenneth Branagh for "The Entertainer," and Ralph Fiennes for" Richard III." "Helen McCrory" is up for Best Actress for "The Deep Blue Sea."
