The "Aquaman" standalone film is one that many have waited on for so long, and more that it has been announced. Some may remember that his short, brief appearance in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" may be enough to tease, but now, more solid information can be withheld.
As some may know, "Aquaman" is one of the core members of the Justice League, which has been confirmed on having their own film next year. Exciting as it may seem to have these heroes all in one movie, their respective standalone films are awaited on equally, such as that of the somewhat underrated Aquaman.
According to Deadline, the wait will now change as a release date has been allotted for "Aquaman." The said film is slated for showing on October 5, 2018-a relatively far date, but still a date nonetheless. It has been said that the "Game of Thrones" actor Jason Momoa will return as Arthur Curry after "Justice League" comes out next year, but with no concrete information yet on what the story will be about.
"Aquaman" has already released its cast lineup, starting with Amber Heard as Queen Mera. It was also confirmed now that Willem Dafoe will play the role of Aquaman's consultant, Dr. Vulko, who will eventually be king of Atlantis. As it can be recalled in the graphic novel, Aquaman will relinquish the throne and appoint Vulko as the successor.
It was seen back in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" that Aquaman was one of the metahumans discovered by Lex Luthor and kept a footage in file. It showed how he was able to not just breathe, but also to fight underwater-wherein some fans may be wishing that in his standalone film, he will go up against his archenemy, Black Manta.
As of now, fans can only keep their fingers crossed on knowing more about "Aquaman" in the coming months. Given that the film is relatively two years away, a lot can change and happen and fans are urged to take everything as a pinch of salt.
