Looks like Jim won't be the only Gordon players will encounter during Batman: Arkham Origins. New pictures have surfaced showing the pre-Comissioner James Gordon in a bit of a tiff with his daughter Barbara, perhaps better known as Batgirl, and eventually, Oracle, a position she assumed after being paralyzed due to a shot in the spine by the clown prince of crime.
Gamers will remember babs doling out advice to Bruce while he made his way through the eponymous Arkham Asylum and Arkham City in the first two Arkham games.
Seen above, it looks the two are having it out somewhere within the confines of the Gotham Ciy Police Station, a spot that, going by other shots, looks like Batman is doing a bit of reconaissance on, and this is likely where they'll be encountered.
As the upcoming game is a prequel, things are still a bit shaky between the police and vigilante crimefighters, making Batman be seen as more of a violent menace than a crimefighting do-gooder. In essence, don't count on cozy, Bat-signal lit meetings with any Gordon for the time being.
With any number of Gotham's boys in blue on Black Mask's payroll, cops are best left avoided when Bats is out doing his patrol. But as James Gordon proves, they're not all bad, and some might have even gathered some good intelligence on Black Mask, or any number of other infamous Gotham City psychotics.
Expect a nice bit of foreshadowing at Babs' future as a vigilante when you come across these two in-game.
Batman: Arkham Origins stars a younger, not as experienced Batman we've seen in past Arkham games, and has the criminal Black Mask offering a boatload of cash to whoever can kill the caped crusader. Confirmed classic characters include Penguin, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Scarecrow, Bane, Copperhead, Mad Hatter, Killer Croc, Firefly, the Joker, Anarky, and others.
Batman is armed with more than just his grapnel gun and batarangs. He's actually carrying a few new toys thrown in for good measure, all to help him pummel thugs throughout a Gotham city that's almost double the size of the one seen in Arkham City.
A Vita prequel, Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate, is also in development by Armature Studio, set to release the same day. The game will release on all platforms worldwide on Oct. 25, 2013.
