Michael Bay announced on Twitter that filming for Transformers: The Last Knight has finished. The director also shared a video that serves as the teaser trailer for the film on the movie's official account.
The teaser trailer contains stills from the set and shows off the cast of Transformers: The Last Knight, such as Josh Duhamel, Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, Santiago Cabrera, Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael. The stills also contained the vehicles to be used in the film, along with a behind-the-scenes peek of director Michael Bay and his crew.
The most interesting still from the video is an image of a medieval Transformer on the set, which confirms time travel in the upcoming movie's storyline. Transformers: The Last Knight focuses on Optimus Prime who returns to Cybertron and finds out it's already dead. In order to resurrect the dying planet, Optimus Prime needs an artifact located back on Earth, which also happens to be the same item that gave Merlin his powers during the time of King Arthur. Megatron, the leader of the Decepticons, will also be back in the fifth film of the franchise. The Combaticons will also be making their appearance.
Parts of the movie were also shot in Cuba, showing off the city's colorful aesthetic. Transformers: The Last Knight is the second Hollywood picture to start production in Cuba after President Obama lifted the embargo (the first movie was Fast 8).
While Transformers: The Last Knight is the most recent in the franchise, it might not be the very last. Word has it that Transformers could have crossovers with other action-figure franchises from Hasbro, such as ROM the Spaceknight. Shared universes is the biggest thing right now in Hollywood and it looks like the Transformers will be part of one big universe that combines all Hasbro properties.
Transformers: The Last Knight will hit theaters on June 23, 2017. The full trailer will drop on Monday.
