Austin Aries is one of the most accomplished professional wrestlers in the world. He joined the WWE earlier this year and he started down in NXT. According to the latest rumors, Aries is set to make his main roster debut soon but he will be part of the Cruiserweight Division.
"The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" has had a very underwhelming stint in NXT and his year was ended with an injury. He suffered a large orbital fracture at a house show against Shinsuke Nakamura and it required surgery.
Aries underwent surgery early last month wherein he had permanent titanium plates, per Wrestling Inc. He is set to miss several months but he could be ready to return in early next year. He recently appeared as a commentator on WWE 205 Live along with Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves.
An article from WWE.com hinted that the appearance of Aries at WWE 2015 Live as scouting the competition. And during the show, the 38-year-old superstar said that he wants to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship soon.
"Undoubtedly waiting to pick his moment, will Aries leave the announce table and become the next great force in the Cruiserweight division? It seems only time will tell," the article teased.
Before Aries signed a deal with the WWE, he has won several championships on many different promotions. He is a two-time ROH World Champion and a one-time TNA World Champion. He also won the TNA X-Division title six times.
The Cruiserweight Division has been a disappointment in the main roster, unlike the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament. The WWE failed to give the members of the division character origins and just put them in random matches.
Aries coming to the division certainly gives them a big name that fans know. However, the company has to make the stories more interesting so that casual fans will get invested. Nevertheless, the future of the division is great since they were given their own show on the WWE Network.
