Naughty Dog released a trailer for "The Last of Us Part II" during the PlayStation Experience event over the weekend. The trailer confirms the release of the sequel and revealed so much more.
Ellie is pissed off
Ellie wants to kill each member of the Fireflies. This is understandable given what she experienced under the group in the first game. The Fireflies wanted her dead so they can use her blood to cure the zombies.
Ellie is all grown up
The "Last of Us Part II" trailer revealed that the game takes off several years after the first game, when Ellie was 19 years old. Ellie is now an adult. Her voice has also slightly changed. Likewise, with age she becomes more skilled in playing the guitar.
Ellie is fiercer
The "Last of Us Part II" trailer confirmed Ellie's loss of innocence and vulnerability. In the first game, she had acted strong and brave only to cover up the fear she felt inside.
However, the fear is gone replaced by contempt. Her eyes only show anger and fierceness. It remains unknown what she had gone through in the sequel. However, it is clear that her experiences have taught her to become brave.
Ellie and Joel still rely on each other
That special bond between Ellie and Joel still exists in "The Last of Us Part II." Joel still calls Ellie "kid," which has become some sort of endearment.
Ellie is the playable character
Ellie is the star of the game of "The Last of Us Part II." Naughty Dog's creative director Neil Druckmann confirmed this during the PlayStation Experience event.
"The Last of Us Part II" is a complimentary game
Druckmann added that the sequel is a complimentary story. They made it as such, because the game focuses on two major characters-Ellie and Joel.
"So yes, the Part II is saying this is a complementary story to the first game, but the two together are going to tell this larger tale," Druckmann said as quoted by Gamespot.
Naughty Dog has yet to announce the release date for "The Last of Us Part II." There are reports the sequel will come out in 2017 and is still in the early stages of development.
