The second trailer for "Death Stranding" was released during game director Hideo Kojima's panel at PlayStation Experience 2016 this weekend. Interestingly, fans of the upcoming open world action video game have discovered that a surprising thing happens when both the first and the second trailers are played at once.
"Death Stranding" fans began looking for clues and Easter eggs in the trailers after Kojima teased that he hid secrets within the two teasers. "How did [y]ou like our new DEATH STRANDING teaser?" the "Death Stranding" creator asked his Twitter followers on Friday, Dec. 2. "There're various hints (misleads) hidden so pls watch it to think as many time as you want."
Not long after, Reddit user constablegrimes posted about a wild connection between the two "Death Stranding" trailers. Fans are in for a surprise when they play both trailers side-by-side (via apps such as YouTube Doubler) and observe what seems to be an intentional continuity between the two. Immediately after the baby in "The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus' hands disappears in the first trailer, it reappears in a vessel held by "Pacific Rim" director Guillermo del Toro in the second trailer. Was the baby pulled from Norman's world into Guillermo's? Was the contraption he was holding some kind of vacuum that sucked the infant from one world to the other?
Meanwhile, at the recently held PlayStation Experience 2016, Kojima announced that "Death Stranding" is using the Horizon Zero Dawn engine known as Decima in lieu of the Fox Engine at Konami. The Decima Engine was developed by Guerrilla Games.
"Decima is the Horizon Zero Dawn engine and, in essence, it's the engine that all Guerrilla games so far run on, but its evolved," Guerrilla Games managing director Hermen Hulst said at the event. "It's fair to say it's taken a quantum leap in the last couple of years to get it ready for this project. It's a lot more than just a rendering engine. It involves AI, physics, logics, it's got the entire world creation tool screen in it." "Death Stranding" is currently without an official release date. It is expected to debut sometime before 2019.
