Android 7.1 Nougat Release Date, News & Update: Google OS Comes To HTC One M8, Older Android Smartphones Via CyanogenMod 14.1 Nightlies

Android 7.1 Nougat will be coming to a number of Android devices like the HTC One M8. This is due to reports that CyanogenMod returns with more nightlies for several devices to bring the Android 7.1 Nougat feature.

CyanogenMod 14.1 nightlies are reported to be available for several Android smartphones that were previously released. As reported earlier, Google Nexus 4 received CyanogenMode, nearly four years after hitting the market. Given the face that Google does not release the Android 7.1 Nougat on devices that were previously released, the tech giant leaves the job to the developer community to make things work.

Android 7.1 Nougat was bumped up into the Nexus 4 last week by CyanogenMod by expanding its 14.1 nightlies. Incidentally, the said smartphone received its first unofficial feature of Android 7.0 Nougat in late August. For a lot of older smartphone users, cyanogenMod 14.1, which is based on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat, could be the only way to get the Android's newest version for their devices.

According to reports, CyanogenMode plans to bring Android 7.1 Nougat to more devices, such as the old Samsung Galaxy S III. That said, some owners of newer devices that are bound to receive the Android 7.1 Nougat anytime soon, are now waiting for its official release. On the other hand, those with older Android smartphones, but have no plans to upgrade to Android 7.1 Nougat, the customized ROM of CyanogenMod is believed to be a good opportunity, according to report.

Meantime, while it was earlier reported that final version of Android 7.1 Nougat for Google-supported devices will be released on Dec. 6, it seems  that the rollout is now underway. However, this may only be true for General Mobile 4G, which is an Android One device that was released in May 2015.

Android 7.1 Nougat is reported to be available now in the Turkish market, where the General Mobile 4G has been confined, GSMArena reported. Watch Google Pixel XL: 15+ Android 7.1 Nougat Features
