The Game Awards 2016 has just ended and "Overwatch" took home The Game of the Year award this year. These are the other winners from the recently concluded event.
The Game Awards GAME OF THE YEAR
This is the award for a game that provides the complete best experience across all creative and technical fields. The games awarded include "Doom" by id Software/Bethesda, "Inside" by Playdead and "Overwatch" by Blizzard. "Titanfall 2" by Respawn/Electronic Arts and "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" by Naughty Dog/Sony Interactive Entertainment were also recipients of the said award.
The Game Awards BEST STRATEGY GAME
This is the award for the best game focused on real-time or turn-based strategy. Winners include "Civilization VI" (Firaxis Games/2K), "Fire Emblem Fates" (Intelligent Systems/Nintendo), and "The Banner Saga 2" (Stoic Studio/Versus Evil). Recipients of the award also included "Total War: Warhammer" (Creative Assembly/Sega) and "XCOM 2" (Firaxis Games/2K).

The Best Action Game is for the best game experience focused on first or third person combat. This includes "Battlefield 1" (DICE/EA), "Doom" (id Software/Bethesda Softworks), and "Gears of War 4" (The Coalition/Microsoft Studios). Also awarded are "Overwatch" (Blizzard), "Titanfall 2" (Respawn/EA) reported by Gamespot.

Best Action/Adventure Game is for the best game experience that combines combat with traversal and puzzle solving. TGA honored games like "Dishonored 2" (Arkane Studios/Bethesda Softworks)," Hitman" (IO Interactive/Square-Enix), and "Hyper Light Drifter" (Heart Machine). Also awarded are "Ratchet & Clank" (Insomniac Games/Sony Interactive Entertainment), and "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" (Naughty Dog/Sony Interactive Entertainment).

The Best RPG is for the best game designed for rich player character customization and progression, both offline and online. Winners include "Dark Souls 3" (FromSoftware/Bandai Namco Entertainment), "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" (Eidos Montreal/Square-Enix) and "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt -- Blood and Wine" (CD Projekt RED). "World of Warcraft: Legion" (Blizzard) and "Xenoblade Chronicles X" (Monolith Soft/Nintendo) are also awarded.
