"Final Fantasy XV" players will find themselves exploring the game most of the time. This is one of the many reasons why having access to a Chocobo is priceless. Here's how to unlock and ride these audacious bipedal mounts.
Chocobos are helpful especially when traveling off the trampled path. These creatures are simply one of the most recognizable creatures in the entire "Final Fantasy" series. While Chocobos have been to many different roles, even helping out in combat occasionally, they have traditionally been riding steeds that comfort the burdens of roaming adventurers.
Reach Chapter 3 to Unlock Chocobo Riding
At the beginning of Chapter 3, players need to stop off at Alstor Coernix Station first before proceeding to the city of Lestallum. In here, Prompto will recommend the group to visit the neighboring Chocobo Post to ride some Chocobos. Although in contrast to the wishes of the other members, agree to Prompto's recommendation to initiate the "Friends of a Feather" quest.
Head to Chocobo Post to Unlock Chocobo Riding
Trail the signs or simply kick it in the back seat while Ignis takes the crowd to the Chocobo Post. Upon reaching the post, talk to Wiz and learn that all Chocobo riding was canceled because of a dangerous creature prowling them. In here, you will discover that Deadeye is inflicting destruction across the countryside. Therefore, Wiz will not release the Chocobos until the problem is solved.
Hunt Down and Kill Deadeye to Unlock Chocobo Riding
Begin another conversation with Wiz. He will offer to disclose local points of interest, provide a good meal, or provide hunts. Check out the hunts available, and accept A Behemoth Undertaking. Trail the quest locations, search for Deadeye, and end his reign of terror. After the behemoth is destroyed, go to Wiz and claim your prize. This quest will give 1,500 EXP and a Chocobo Whistle, as well access to the Rent-a-Bird service set up all over Eos.
Ride a Chocobo
Wander over to a Rent-a-Bird station and rent a Chocobo where rates are pretty cheap. Once that is accomplished, you are free to summon a Chocobo within the duration specified. Having a Chocobo accessible will be incredibly handy especially when searching the wilderness. As a bonus, according to Gamerant, Chocobos can at times aid in combat.
