'Cardcaptor Sakura' Sequel Release Date, Latest News & Updates: 'Clear Card' Arc to Arrive January 2018; Anime Reunites All Original Voice Actors for Sequel

The 1990's hit anime series "Cardcaptor Sakura" will return for a sequel in the next two years. It was confirmed on Thursday that the "Clear Card" arc will be released sometime January 2018.

The show's official Twitter account has announced that the "Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card" arc has kicked off production. This is great news for the many fans who have been waiting for a new arc to be released.

Aside from the original voice stars who will reprise their roles in the series, director Morio Asaka will also make a huge comeback. According to Rocket News 24, Madhouse will still be handling the upcoming installment. NHK, the channel that aired the first "Cardcaptor Sakura" installment, will also be the broadcasting channel for the sequel.

"Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card" arc will see Sakura as a junior high school pupil and fans are expecting her to be more mature this time. The anime sequel is also expected to follow through with the events in the manga installment that has the same title and was released July of this year.

Anime News Network says "Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card" arc will see the return of Sakura Tange as Sakura Kinomoto, Junko Iwao as TomoyoDaidoji, Motoko Kumai as Syaoran Li, Tomokazi Seki as Toya Kinomoto, Megumi Ogata as Yukito Tsukishiro, and Aya Hisakawa as Keroberos. There are a lot of expectations from fans as this year marks the manga version's 20th anniversary. More details are expected to be released as production for the next "Cardcaptor Sakura" arc continues.

"Cardcaptor Sakura" has been ranked as one of the top five best-selling manga series during its time. It has received positive acclaim from numerous critics and was also awarded with the Seiun Award for Best Manga in 2001. The anime adaptation also didn't fall short of awards. It was the best anime in 1999, as awarded by the Animage Grand Prix.

It has yet to be seen if "Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card" arc will deliver by the initial January 2018 scheduled release date. However, fans are hoping that there will be no delays.
