Fans were devastated when ABC's drama series, "Nashville" Season 5 was cancelled, despite ending in a cliffhanger. Unfortunately, the show is not coming back to ABC and this shocked not only fans, but also the entertainment industry.
After wrapping up on Season 4, it was confirmed that "Nashville" Season 5 won't be happening in ABC, but this doesn't entirely mean that the series will no longer continue the story of Rayna James (Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) as production had been searching its new home. Fortunately, they found it and the new season will soon premiere on CMT.
Fans will surely be overjoyed now that "Nashville" Season 5 has been given another chance and they won't even have to wait long to see the characters once again. Originally, the series was scheduled to return on Jan. 5, but now, fans will get to watch the "first hour of the two-hour" premiere on Dec. 15.
It surely would be a great holiday treat for fans of the series knowing that "Nashville" Season 5 will continue on and new stories will be told this month. The "Nashville" cancellation appears to be a blessing in disguise since CMT President Brian Philips believes that the series is just right where it belongs. "Nashville is a perfect addition to our evolving lineup of big music specials, documentaries and original series," Philips said in a statement. "We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. 'Nashville' belongs on CMT," he continued.
"Nashville" Season 5 is expected to bring back Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton but there will be several changes to the series. As reported by TVGuide, the new season will feature more music, more diversity, a slower pace and a different Juliette. Check out the teaser for "Nashville" Season 5 in the video below.
